
For you outdoor enthusiasts, I recommend you click on the following layers on Google Earth when you find your area of interest. For this example I used Big Bend National Park in Texas:
Click on Parks and Recreational Areas to highlight the major trails and waypoints such as Visitor Center and Campgrounds
Click on Geographic Features to highlight major peak names and other land features
Click on Google Earth Community to highlight other areas of interest as well as photos posted by other travelers. Under this category
I checked Earth Browsing, Travel Information, and Environment and Conservation. These map layers revealed such interesting features as scorpion habitats and minor campgrounds not shown on the Parks and Recreational Areas layer.
Click on Geographic Web to bring up Panoramio ( http://www.panoramio.com) which feature images posted by Panoramio users and Wikipedia information about the Park.
